356 Sport Muffler

Does anyone know if a 356 Sport Muffler will fit on a 912 without modification to the rear license panel? I think it would be a great look if it would work. By the way, the Sport Muffler is the one with 2 pipes coming out like a VW Bug.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't think that it would fit without modification. outlet pipes on the sport exhaust are at the exact same height as the outlets on the standard exhaust they just go straight back instead of curving around to the side. If you need to have a cut out in the left rear bumper for the tip to go, and the bottom of the rear panel is about the same height as the bumpers, it just seems like they wouldn't be able to go under the panel, they'd have to go through it.

Jeff look in the Tweeks catalog if you have one. I believe the 356 sport muffler required a different rear panel for the 356 so both pipes could exit the rear of the car. Mark

It didn't necessarily require the panel. If you didn't have the carrera panel the sport pipes were supposed to just exit underneath the rear of the 356. I've seen some that exit through the bumperettes too. I don't know if that's a good way to tell if they work on a 912 though since they're two completely different models. It would depend on how much lower the rear is from the engine on each car.

Please Measure...I can't

The Sport muffler pipes exit at the very bottom of the muffler. I think this will work. I have a Bursch on mine right now and can't measure, but if someone does, could you please tell me how far below the license plate panel your muffler hangs. A measurement from the bottom of the muffler to the bottom of the panel. Thanks!
