I need an ignition switch for a 69-912. I can find one for the 912E and have been told that the switch from a 911 would work.
Does the 912E switch work in 912's, does anyone know? Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. craign |

This is a common problem I've had to deal with too. The first thing to check is to see if the bakelight part has become slightly separated from the switch, creating a gap and "not working" - when just tightening it up fixes the problem. That worked for me for now. If the switch is dead, you can get a used one - I bought one from Einmalig ($139) before I learned about Pelican - try Wayne. You can also find NOS switches on eBay every once in awhile - there is one on now:
item number 600211126 As for a retro fit of the later switch, I don't know. I've heard of being done, and it if you don't care about stock, it makes getting key blanks a lot cheaper as the 1970-1989 keys are everywhere. 912E & 911 switches w/ steering locks are the same. Hope that helps - Scott 69 & 76 912/E |
