I want to have "real" temp and oil pressure gauges in my 912E. I understand that you can get the temperature sending unit & replace the temp range piece with a unit from a 911, but does anyone have a solution to an oil pressure gauge? I know that oil pressure sending units are available for the type 4 engine, just not sure if the guts from a 911 gauge will work with it.
Thanks. |

This is exactly what I was going to do with to my 912E, but ended up selling it. Here's what I ended up with, after lots of cross-referencing/asking, etc. The sender is a dual unit, one for the gauge and one to retain the idiot-light. The gauge was given to me from a friend who replaced a 2.7 911 motor with a 3.0 SC and used the SC gauge in the conversion. I think I got the VDO sender from Automotion, and I know it fits/threads to a Type IV 914 motor. (If you're interested in buying this, email me or post reply & I'll give you details of the gauge, etc. $35.00 + shpng) Also, you'll need an additional wire from the sending unit to the gauge, but on 912E's, there are usually a few unused (Air cond./rear wiper, etc.) around to find.

Thanks!
I just sent you a private message via this board (not sure how that works). It has my email address. If you don't get the message let me know. I don't like to post my email address to keep spammers from getting it. |
