Generator wiring gauge

Hello,

I'm installing a brand new generator, the bigger type for my '68 912.
I would like to replace the 3 wires that goes from the gen. to the regulator and i'm not sure what wire gauge to use.

There are 2 thick wires and 1 thin wire. All 3 wires are connected to D-, D+ and DF.

What is a good wire gauge to use, maybe 10 or 12 gauges??

Thanks in advance,
Bao

No. 12 should be plenty large enough. 14 would probably be OK, too. 16 is easily large enough for the field wire (DF). It's just a short run.
