Experts Required: Seat Hinges
This is starting to get really weird.
My original 1968 912 driver seat had two of the internal nuts in the seat backs sheared so I bought a replacement set on Ebay - advertised as 1968 912 seats. When they arrived it all looked good. BUT ![]() 1. The bump stops are different (mines flat, others shaped) 2. The tilt mechanism is different (mines has no inward tab on hinge, others has little inward tab in front of lever) 3. The rod mechanism is different (mines spring, others circlip) 4. The drivers seat tilts (mines fixed with a grub screw, others tilt) 5. The plastic cover is different (mines no space to fit tilt mechanism, others have cutaways to accomodate tilt levers) What the heck is going on? Did Porsche change the seat mechanism in 1968 or are the new seats simply wrong? OR...have I go a special fixed racing one ![]() I have a whole lot of phot0's but can only upload one at a time so see following posts...(I think) ![]() |

912 seats
Covers: Note cutaway for tilt mechanism on new seats. Mines didn't have a cutaway! Meaning seat never tilted?

912 seats
Seat stops: note different types. Mines has the hole.

912 seats
End of tilt rod: Note mines has a spring and retainer. New seats just have a rod onto the tilt knurled ring, which has a circlip at the end.

The seat recliners did change around '69. The one with the tab by the lever is the later style.
