912e Exhaust - Removal of Reactors
Hi Folks,
I'm new to 912e teritory - just discovered I've got a 912e exhaust on my W-series Type 4 motor (so most likely VW 412 not Porsche 914/4) in the back of my VW Type 3 (notch). Removal of the Reactors is going to help me with ground clearance, tinwear issues etc etc. I have seen the pipe replacements but they are c.$250 US! So... Has anyone got a cheaper alternative? Has anyone taken the grinder and welder to their Reactors to come up with a sleeker/ simpler result? What does the area inside the tin reactor cylinder look like? Many thanks, Regards, Rich |

Dear Notchback Owner,
You may want to regard your reactors the same way you would some dumb comic book in your possession. However awful they are, they are oem to a run of 2100 cars. You would maybe be doing as badly with "F" tubes which point forward and then attach to a "U" shape to attach to heat exchangers. What isn't going to give you clearance problems, though? You could even use 914 things way forward and then hook them up to outside pipes along the [running boards\rocker panels. Larger wheels will elevate this end and raise your gearing.
