'68 912 Throttle Linkage

Hello.

I'm working on a 1968 Porsche 912 with split shaft Solex carburetors. I can't get full throttle because the right bell crank arm hits the fan housing at about half throttle. I'm thinking the car has the wrong links between the bell crank and the carburetors.

Could someone possibly measure the length of the links, center of ball to center of ball, on their car and let me know the length?

The only other thing I think could be wrong is the bell crank itself. Maybe somebody could measure the length of the bell crank arm center-of-shaft to ball?

Any assistance in solving my dilemma would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Mark Karlsson

My linkage measures 6-3/4". I am sure that can vary a bit based on your exact setup.

The links are removed when adjusting the carburetors. After the carburetors are adjusted the links are adjusted to the distance. They are not a special length. The distance might change after the idle has been adjusted. That is why they screw on to the linkage shaft. When you put the linkage back on the arm and the upper shaft. They should not move at all.

If you look at the two pictures where the linkage connect to the carburetor. You will notice that your arm is farther down than John's. It looks like you arm may need to be removed and move up a little to get its full movement.

there is also the linkage behind the fan housing to consider.
