antenna
The original antenna on my '66 was on the driver's side, with the cable passing through an opening and under the dashboard. I was under the impression that the passenger side was utilized if the antenna was an optional electric type, since without the gas tank filler assembly on that side, there was a little more room for the motor assembly.
Do many owners have a stock manual antenna on the passenger side? |
The standard antenna was on the drivers side so people walking down the street would not reach over and break it off. obviously they were having some problem with people doing this. The Passenger side had the electric antenna. Which is always down with the ignition off. Also as Rick stated there was more room on that side. If the car was for export the radio was not installed until it arrived at the dealers. A lot of radios seem to disappear in-transit. The factory had templates for everything including the antenna placement. If the antenna is on the sidewalk side and not electric. It was probably installed by one of the PO or at one of those car radio stores
