left or right hand thread

I have a 1968 912 1.6 engine.

I am trying to remove the fan from the generator shaft. I can not loosen the nut perhaps because I am really tightening it by going lefty-loosey. The fan belt side is standard thread direction and is off. Not enough of the bolt or shaft threads show on the fan side to be sure which way he threads go. I have soaked it with penetrating oil and even heated it.

Which direction do the threads on the fan side of the generator shaft turn? Do I need a stronger man to put more torque lefty -loosey or are the threads reverse direction so I need to go the opposite direction to loosen the nut?

Thank you
