Question measurements for deck lid badging

Hi, I wonder if anyone would have time to take some measurements for me? My 912 is a '66 and I am replacing my barless deck lid with a '67, which has the center bar, but unfortunetly has the wrong badge holes too. Soooo, I need to find the correct measurement of where the italic "912" and the one-piece (or, should I say, two-piece) "Porsche" badges should be (from the bottom). Thank you in advance.

C'mon you '66 owners, how 'bout some measurements!
I'll check my parts car and let you know.

I oish I could tell you but the PO took latter style letters and bunched them up. If anyone has the early style I'd glady take if off your hands!

Chuck, I've got a '66 lid on my '67, and I have the scripts off right now. I'll measure the holes for you tomorrow when it's light out.

Chuck, sorry it took longer than expected, but I had my own car trouble yesterday. I tried to make the measurements as accurate and easy to follow is possible. If you don't understand any of them or are uncertain about any e-mail me and I'll try to help out.

"912"

To get the location of the first hole you need to look at the grille. Go to the last nut sticking out at the bottom right. I used a tape measurer for this measurement and placed the metal catch in between the two bars directly above the nut. Measure down 24.6cm (make sure you are in line with the nut) Then measure 2.3cm to the left of that point. I would draw a line from each point to the other and then the edge and make sure you have a 180 degree angle.

To get the second hole you just need to make a right triangle with the first hole at the top right corner and the new hole at the bottom right corner. The right angle is drectly below the 1st hole. You want to measure 15mm down from the first hole then 44mm to the left (make sure it's a right angle) The last side, and the distance between the two holes should then be 46mm. I checked it with the pythogorean theorom, it's only off by .4mm I don't think that will be a big deal.

"Porsche"

This is actually a lot easier. This time start at the second nut from the left on the grille. and measure down 33.4cm. This is going to be your left most hole. This should also be 31.1cm below the lip of the grille area. The rest of the holes are in line with the first hole, and are all 31.1cm below the lip of the grille area. asumming they are holes 1-2-3-4 from left to right, the distance from hole 1 to 2 is 155.5mm from hole 2 to 3 is 77mm and from hole 3 to 4 is 111mm.

I hope this helps, and let me know if my directions are confusing in any way.

Andrew

the second hole in the triangle should be at the bottom left hole, not the bottom right. the bottom right should be the right angle with no hole.

thanks

thanks Andrew, I don't get the lid back from the painter for a few weeks. I'll then drill the holes, this is a big help.

regards,
Chuck
