Got to tell some-one
Hi all,
I'm keeping it a secret from my wife but I've to tell some one, so on your ears it lands. Yesterday I went and looked at a RHD 1971 911 S, and yeap you guessed it I bought it. It's been stored for 10 years but it's complete and I really mean complete down to little parts, which normally go missing over the years. I believe they only made 34 RHD S's in 1971 and this is number 24 of the production line that year. It does need some work obviously but whoops, that’s another Porsche I need to house. I'm going back up on Friday so I'll take some snaps. So if any one has some great excuses about why I've bought another one please send them this way_I'm going to need them. Had to tell someone, thanks for listening Alan.UK 67 912 68 Karmann Ghia 69 912 71 911 S

Alan,
It sounds like yoiu got a real collectors item, I'm still learning the Porsche vernacular so excuse my ignorantance. What is a RHD ? I'm sure......once you explain to your wife what a great deal this is she'll love it. Be glad you could buy it. Happy motoring, Chas |

Hi Alan,
I am envious. You now have quite a "collection". You better wrap a bow around one of your 912's and give it to your wife.....then bring the 911s home a week later. . I'm looking forward to seeing some pic's

Congratulations,
I always tell my wife that another car is better than another woman. It has worked for me so far. JMB

Alan try "I'm just storing it, for a friend!"
This has worked for friends of mine, but never for me!

Alan,
First off congratulations .... Now down to business .... My wife (and my best friend I might add) have been married 30 yrs. How does one buy a Porsche with the wife not knowing? Are things done different in the UK? It's tough enough buying stuff the car needs (small stuff let alone big $ items) and keeping it a secret ... but a whole Porsche!!!! Man you ought to write a book ... Again, Alan, congratulations and good luck with the new ride ... looking forward to those pictures ......... Rich G. WPa. |

Firstly thanks to all for your sound advice and kind words.
I will keep you up-to-date on the new 912 and 911 and also on how I break the news. I just couldn't help myself, that little Porsche devil sat on my shoulder and said "gone on Alan". But so far I'm wrapping a bow round the 67, visiting the jewellers, storing the 69 912 for a friend and hiding all the bank statements for the next three years_grin. With more hints like that maybe Rich is right, we should write a book on "secret Porsche buying" (Wayne are you listening) But remember you lot if your ever around this neck of the woods you are always welcome to come round and take em for a spin. Thanks again Alan.UK |
