installing Petroniz ignition

Anyone who has installed the Petroniz ignition - please advise... According to directions, I placed the magnetic sleeve over the shaft. It din not just slip down, and in fact I had to gently 'tap' it down. (Now I'm worried) I haven't placed it on the car yet - but my QUESTION IS - Is this tight a fit -normal ? Did you have to do the same ??
