Cured my Solex P40-11, popping back thru carbs
Popping back through carburetors just off idle: I finally figured it out!
![]() Throttle plates have cutaways on the top sides which Porsche used to lean out mixture, probably for the U.S. market (smog control). I cured it by flipping over the throttle plates so the cutout is on the bottom side, away from the transition ports. This richened it up--no more popping. Thought I'd pass it on so other people wouldn't have to pull their hair out like I did, or send it out for the $1500 carb rebuild. The other alternative is flat throttle plates for sale on eBay. Search for the cure is over! ![]() Last edited by mark_karlsson; 07-09-2011 at 02:24 PM.. |
