mahle piston/cylinder kits 1968 912 1.6
I am home restoring a 1968 912 1.6
I plan using Mahle Piston and Cylinder Set 82.5, Compression ratio 9.3:1. Cylinder material, Nikasil. Bore surface, alloy. Piston design, 3 ring, short skirt. (82.5mm, 9.3:1, Nikasil). A set of four fits 356 SC/912 (1965-69)". 616-103-904-04-SET part is available as from Pelican OR 616-103-904-06-SET part is available as from Stoddard or others. Both the 04 and 06 have seemingly the same description. The Porsche PET Jan,2010 lists 616-103-904-04-SET as replacement. I wonder what the new PET 7.2 version references 06 set? What are comments, differences or recommendations regarding 04 set vs 06 set? Thank you to those who know. Larry |

If your alreading intending to spend that much $, you might want to consider buying a set of 'nickies' . Supposedly they are superior.
You can ask around as to if they really are superior. But there is alot of verbage on them, on the manufacturors website |

I am restoring a 912. 1968 and I am wondering how long it will take to replace the pistons n cylinders with the 616-103-904-04-SET part is available as from Pelican in average.
Larry, any feedback also based on your experiences recently? Thanks for your advise in advance! Togar |
