Hey Jerry....I have one
The mounting bar is the four bolt version rather than the six bolt found on later cars...I have the mounting bar and plates and I believe the rubber blocks as well.

There is also a rigid, non-rubber block bar which was fitted to early '66 cars.

Here is a shot of the bar mounted to brackets on the engine. Two bolts through the eyes at the end of the bar attach it to the rubber mounts shown in John's picture above. This is a pic I have on file. If you need a close-up, I can take one.

These bars, solid, 4 block and 6 block are cheep. I see them listed for stupid prices like $100+. Contact Jim @ EASY Porsche in Emmoryville, CA., he has a wall of them and mentioned that they never sell. I bought one 3-4 years ago for $10.

Jerry, what type of mount is on the car? Do you have the rubber "donuts" as shown in John's pic above? If so and you decide to go to one of the later 4 block or 6 block bars shown above you will need to replace the rubber mounts on the chassis with these:
You should be able to find them for a lot less than $89! The stock '66 "hard bar" as shown by John and in my pic uses the rubber mounts on the chassis. Last edited by Jim Chambers; 01-24-2012 at 04:44 PM.. |
