Frontpan question....
 

I am unsure....

Should there be rubber kind of drainage pipes placed in the two holes in the frontpan ?

My car has them!
They flatten out at the lower end.
I guess they stop the road water coming into the spare wheel area?

Mine had them on the original pan, but not on the replacement panel which has one central drainage route.

Was the "old" sheetmetal in this area rotted away ?

I checked the PET an it says the started adding this drainage pipes from 1969 on.......

How ever I ordered them......

Mine is a '67 and it has them?
Alan who made the replacement pan? Was it an easy fit? I'm still researching doing this. Dansk or Restoration design?

It was a repro pressing by Dansk, but it was a very good fit and I was very happy with the results. My good friend welded it in and it was a relativley easy job. In fact he is in my garage now welding a new front slam panel in the S.

Wow...deja vu. I'm doing exactly the same here in the mountains of North Carolina.

The last two days have been spent under the car. I'm stripping the bottom of the pans to bare metal. It's not easy, but the results are good.

All the old undercoating is coming out. I coated the bottom with Aircraft Stripper. Thankfully, I found it in spray cans; it went on really easy.

Two coats, 24 hours apart, loosened up the old undercoating. Using two metal scrapers and a screwdriver, I've managed to clean one pan to gleaming metal.

I've used Naval Jelly on the clean pans to take care of any surface rust. I'll apply a second coat today, then clean the surface and paint with POR-15.

I'll post some photos later today.

We love to see your pictures of the stripped floorpans.....

This will be my next task.......
