Oil strainer cleaning?

How often does everyone clean their oil strainer and magnetic filter? Every oil change? or is it something that can be done every other oil change like the oil filter?

Due to a rounded drain plug, now "permanent", I dump the oil out that hatch every time and every time find metallic debris on the magnet. It takes longer to replace all those bolts but hey...once I'm on the ground ...
