Breather Hose

I am currently runnung my car with the breather hose connected to a coke bottle with a little hole in it and the car runs great. When I put the breather hose into its spot on the carb the car runs really badly. I do get a liitle fluid in the bottle (milky) and it smells like gas. Why?

Howdy,
If the breather hose makes excessive fluid and smell like gas, you have severe blow-by. The rings are probably worn and allowing fuel and exhaust to get into the crankcase.
Check your oil for the same smell. Chances are it is also wetted by fuel. A rebuild will take care of this problem.
Regards, JMB
