She lives!
"Bitta", my '67 912 Targa SRW has been on jack stands since I left for Antarcitca over 18 months ago.
After replacing the rear pans, putting in a new front clip, fixing the shift bushings, new suspension and tie-rods and much, much more....I took her out yesterday. Oh-my-gawd (as they say down south here). Nothing but sweet. After a few fine tunings of the shift assembly, she absolutely hums. I drove her at speed for over an hour. Speed limit be damned. She just purred. The Maestro's engine feels robust, mellow and satisfying - just like a good fresh pulled Guinness. Now all that's left to do is sort out the interior (now where are all those assorted nuts, and screws?), fit the two Recaros, bolt on the newly restored wooden steering wheel and a few other little projects. I bet I finish just before my wedding in September - or not until I get back from Antarctica next year. |

Great!
Now you can change your handle to "912loco" . Keep the shiny side up! JMB

Hmmm. 912loco might just work
Actually, I've been bmwloco for going on 18 years online. First on BBS's, and later on the web. It's all about my love for old air cooled BMW boxer engined motorcycles. Not cages. I don't consider my 912 a cage. It's something all together different. |
