Head Surgery!
Hi,
I've learned that there is a place in CA where you can have your cracked 912 heads welded. I was curious if anyone knows of a reputable, high quality shop in New York that does the same thing? I don't mind sending a head to CA, but I would prefer something a little more local if possible! Thanks, Bill |

Hi,
Depending on how badly your heads are cracked, it can be much cheaper to find some other heads. My motor has repaired heads and they are fine. The cracks that I had were from plug to seat only. If the cracks are worse than that the money starts adding up. You must also consider the cost of seats, guides, springs, valves, and machining. My rule of thumb for heads is around $150 per chamber on average. That's a mid line figure. I have spent much less and much more on some heads. If you contact me I can take care of your needs in a very professional and fast way. If interested, contact me via e-mail. Regards, JMB
