Fuel Pump - New or Rebuild it ?

How much luck have you all had with rebuilding the stock pump?

I know its easy, but I dont want to rebuild it again in 6 months. Someof these 30 year old parts can only take so many rebuilds.

New$130
Rebuild$30

Rebuild it........

If it lasts 6 months it cost you $5/month to find out, pretty cheap investment overall.

Take it apart and see whats wrong, if its just a leaking diaphram its an easy one, mine had the check valve come apart inside and I had to re-spike the plate. Make sure the mating surfaces are not warped, mine were and had to be surfaced on a flat block. I guess mine was in really bad shape. If you go with new Ill take your core!!!!

As long as the check valves are ok you can rebuild it. If the check valves are defective you need a new fuel pump. Duke, 69 912.
