Want to install an electric fuel pump in my 68 912. Either the plunger or the cam is wore down so pump no loger pumps. I was advised till I tear down and rebuild an electric pump would be a solution. Am wondering where on the 912 I should mount this. Near fuel tank or back in engine compartment?? Anyone with experience?

I don't if this helps but on my 912e I installed a Scat/Facet fuel pump under car back of fuel tank. The kit was just $35 with all necessary brackets fittings etc. I bought a Scat pressure regulator at the same time...suggested by PBT (Pelican brain trust) and I am happy with new set-up.
Cost was $75 from Dan's VW in Oregon. ( He was slow shipping but car is fast)

Facets are great little pumps & work equally well as "pushers" or "pullers." If you haven't done so, check out the question on this 912 board of 6-14 about 'Weber 40IDF Fuel Hose Size' & look at the pics Green912 posted in response. Definitely a clean and logical installation.
Good luck Bill. |
