question regarding guages

Greeting from Ontario, Canada. I have recently acquired a 1976 912E, the guages I need assistance with are the fuel & temperature. I have some fogging issues around the base and outer perimeter.

Is there a DIY fix or can they be repaired - re-sealed to eliminate this?

Also, will the gauges from a similar era Porsche work? Some gauges I have seen for sale from a 76 or SC appear to be dual function, ie the fuel and oil pressure are combined, can these work for me?

Also, will the tach work with a 2 Liter engine?

Thanks, & Happy Holidays
Mike

The gauges can be repaired by VDO. Generally the 911 type gauges will work on a 912. However, it might depend on the sending units. The gas gauge will work. The tach for a 6 will not work on a 4.

Thanks for your input.

Hi Mike, you can use the TACHOMETER from the SC, but you will need the adapter that I make so the rpms will read correctly. Check it out at Home Many members on the forum love this little adapter. -Bob
