"Occasional puff of smoke"

Hi guys - look at a 912 from somewhat far away and it is supposedly a good driver but with the occasional puff of smoke.

Obviously I need a lot more details here but on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being light your wallet on fire) where would you rank this if the car otherwise drives well and has good oil pressure etc?

Depends on what color the puff is.

When is it smoking? Randomly? After coming off the gas? Only at start-up? Does it eventually go away? Without more info, I'd prepare for the worst. Might not be a big deal though. I'd give it a 7.2 with a possibility of only being a 2.
