Rear Swaybar Info needed
 

Does anyone have a pic of a factory rear swaybar where it fastens to the? Thats the question, where do the drop links connect? The rear Guiding Arm or the Strut and where. I dont see anyplace on my 69 (brackets, holes etc) or does the factory weld attachment points only when they are used?

I have seen the brakets. They are either welded or bolted onto the bottom of the flat pan of the car at the back of the pan. There are supposed to be little nipples on the banana arms that the upper ends of the sway bar links are attached to. My '69 did not have them. Considering the expense of going stock, I choose to buy the Weltmiester 16mm unit. It was a bolt on and it only took about 3 hours to install (hand tools). Did the same for the front bar, only it is a 19mm. Car is very balanced and it really rages in the canyons now. Driving Mulholland Highway tomorrow with about 10 ther 912s. I can't wait!

I had the stock (optional on 912) bar and will be glad take and post pix of attachment points and the original bar (for sale) if you want. The aftermarket bars require less welding or none if you have the brackets on the underbody. Be careful with aftermarket. A too fat (stiff) sway bar can make for a bad-handling handful of a car.

Jeff's 16R and 19F is a great combo when used with stock torsion bars and dialed in.

The pre 77 cars have a "ball" joint for the droplink on the axle beam.

The ball is seperatly aviable to be welded on ( steel beams ) or screwed in ( aluminium beams ).

Most beams came with the ball even if not delivered with rear stabilizer bar.
