Thumbs up My wife finally got to drive a 912 today

We've recently started looking for either a 912 or an early 911T as an occassional car for my wife. She loves the look of these cars but never actually drove one before. Today she got to experience what a 912 is like, thanks to fellow Pelican member adot (Brett). Brett is a super guy who accompanied my wife on the test drive of his 912 and was very patient with her anxiety about the 912's 5-speed shift pattern (dogleg down 1st gear). She left feeling real good about the 912 but still a bit nervous about 1st gear. We're still uncertain whether a 4-speed or 5-speed transaxle will suit her best but, either way, the 912 is very cool.

Jim it is amazing how quickly you can get used to strange shift patterns in just a matter of a couple of hours. Every one of my cars has a different shift pattern.

Thumbs up

Brett. Did you look in the motor compartment of that 996? Packed solid with “stuff”. I get to drive them (And others) while instructing at BSR and PCA DE events. Very smooth and seamless handling characteristics. Almost too easy but still way fun. I would like the anti-lock, it helps to keep from flat spotting tires under braking. (or is that under over braking? ) Driving the newer cars makes me want more power and shows how far things have progressed but the 912 will have to do for now.

Thanks for giving Jim’s lovely wife a chance to drive your car. My track seats are fixed and I am more than a little bit taller. You need to come out to a Summit point DE event. Very nice scenic easy hour drive and free access to the pit and paddock. Some real P car firepower hanging around but only one 912.

912UK, I wish we could send you some of our summer. It is 100F and 90% humidy today.
