Air diverter cable replacement
For a 1969 912. The hard wire cable on the dash air control is bent. (Red Slider)
Does anyone have a source for a replacement cable? Thank You |

If the bowden cable is just bent, you could easily straighten it. If its broken you could use the more or less standard heater pull cable as available from our host. Give them a call. Perhaps you need clamps to fix the cable at its ends.
These bowden cables get bent or even brake when there is to much friction (corrosion). Lubing them on a more or less regular base prevents these problems. Otto |

Can you give me a thumbnail on how to remove the control from the dash?
Thanks |

I don't have pics available, but the removal is quite straight forward. If you take a look under the dash, you will see how it is fixed. If I remember well, it's just only one bolt/nut holding the unit. If you just need to replace the cable, it could be done from underneath, without removing the unit. I agree it is no fun to twist yourself between the dash and shifter ...
