Weber Throttle Return Spring

When I recently installed a set of Weber 40IDF's on my 69 I had to add a throttle return spring to insure the throttles were closing properly. The Weber throttle springs were not strong enough considerinfg the drag on them from the linkage etc. I could manually move the linkage a small amount, less than 1/4", to a closed position

Since the Weber throttle levers were at a different angle than the Solexes I had no place to hook a spring to out in space so I fabricated a metal bracket arm on which to hook the new throttle spring to. It mounts to the right rear carb stud and sticks up into the air. The setup works OK but looks wierd (to me). I only needed one spring and I put it on the right side because there is more room.

Has any one come up with a better solution?

Thanks,
Ron

Will post a picture as soon as I can take it. My Webers were modified by John Benton to use Solex springs.

A good place to add a helper spring is on the doghouse bell crank.

I'm not sure what springs they're suppose to have? My car came with the Webers already installed and have a spring that hooks to the throttle shaft where the linkage snaps on and is hooked to the bottom plate of the air cleaner. There's one on each side.

Add a spring as the Webber suplied are not normaly strong enought and will stick when you least expect it.

I have added an extra return spring on the all the webbers I've had. I've attached a pic of the webers in my karmann ghia. These started life on a 356c but this was unfortunitly crashed in a race. The extra spring shuts then perfectly

Hope that helps

Alan:
I added two throttle return springs to my Webers as you have done. Works great, many thanks.
