Seat police

Did Recaro make the stock seats? He says these are Recaros. I say no, he says yes. Early stock seats with headrests in decent to excellent condition are fetching about $600.00 to $800.00. These aren't even close to that.

Those are certainly overpriced seats for their condition, but Ebay has a way of finding those with "sucker cash."

As for Recaro, they produced at least some of the stock seats for the 911/12 cars - there might have been other manufacturers that I'm not aware of.

Recaro...yes. Overpriced...yes. Unless you need that particular color in which case a good cleaning might uncover a nice set of seats in an unusual color.

The price is actually insane. I just sold my stock seats last month with perfect headrests, sliders and some stitching letting go on the seat for 600.00. I guess I learned something, that the factory seats are made by Recaro. I thought only the sport seats were Recaro.

Bob,

In addition to the previous posts, note the poor condition of the chrome. That's an indicator for the inside of the seats - rusted springs and so on. As JT wrote: ... unless you need that particular color ...

Those seats will not clean up. The discoloring is too bad to clean up well. Most likely the person thinks that the Recaro on these seat are the same as the sport seats or doesn't know the difference.

That's my take on it. I was just curious. I'm not looking to buy anymore seats

Those seats are for a '69-'73 car for starters. Jaems is correct and those seats will not clean; there is a difference between dirty and sun burned, those are sun burned. I've cleaned very dirty light ivory seats with an Ajax type cleanser, a stiff brush and a hose on a hot day to dry. If the covers are in sound condition the material is very tuff and can really take a scrubbing.

They look like the seats my 69 came with, mine are labeled Recaro, those look trashed. I would keep looking, way to much money.

Again, I am not looking to buy seats and if I was I wouldn't even give those a first thought let alone a second. The sliders on them are more valuable than the seats attached. I was just looking to keep people informed about the scammers out there.
