Possible Hazard Switch Failure, Help needed.
Guys, just want to see if anyone can offer any advice or tests.
Car is a 69 912. The problem arose when I was testing an old radio before I fitted it, basically I was making a connection with the live pin on the ignition, when suddenly there was no power at all. So no power at ignition or light switch or indicators, only thing that worked was wipers and Hazards. Then I did some checks and checked fuse boxes, and only power to Fuses 1 to 5, no power to any other fuses. So went to the wiring diagram and could see a red/black wire from fuse 5 to Hazard Switch pin 30, and a red wire from pin 15 on switch to Fuse 6. Because there was no power to fuse 6 I made a connection between the red/black wire and the red wire and everything was back working again. So my question is this, does this indicate that the Hazard Switch is the problem even though the Hazards are working? or is there something else like a relay or fuse which would cause this. also what checks could I do to find the fault. Any advice welcome. J.D. |
Make sure your ignition swicth work properly and check rear of ignition the spade and conector overheat frequenly.

Thank you Pors 1968.
I did check this and one of the connectors had come off when I was installing the switch, however even though I thought this was the problem there was still no power coming to the switch. From the wiring diagram it seems the ignition gets its power from fuse 2, while the light switch gets its power from fuse 1 and neither of these work. I will do some more investigation over the weekend. |
