Got it running, Quick question

One of the Two carbs feels very hot after running the car a minute or so. Both the base and the carb are real hot and the other one feels like room temp. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Guess I'll start the ball rolling to keep this thread active - hopefully someone who has a definite answer can jump in.
Are you sure the following are correct - cooling tin/carb base insulators/sparkplug access seals/fuel (float) level in "hot" carb? Does the engine run well? What does your oil temp read? Is this carb on the driver's side?

Maybe a stretch here but are the plugs gapped correctly on that side??

Have you checked all the seals around the plugs & the sheet metal on that side? Also remove the air cleaners & look down into the carb WITH A MIRROR (do not put your face over the carb) & see what is happening. Do you see any flames or fuel leakage into the carb throat? Check the carb preheat ducts at the base of the carb-one may be wide open & the other one closed. Just a few ideas.

I remember once when one of my carbs were dumping fuel straight into the piston, the inlets and carbs were freezing cold from evaporating fuel, while the other was hot. Maybe the problem is not that one side is too hot, but one side is too cool. Just a thought.

With Weber IDF's (on my 914) the float level must be set properly or can result in raw fuel spilling into the carb throat. It happened to me and cleared up after float adjustment. What puzzled me was that the carbs had worked well for years before this occurred. I don't know if a similar thing could occur on a 912 (Solex carbs?) but it is something to consider.
