Thread size
The shifter has a 14 mm thread, what is the pitch of thread? I am looking for a new shif knob.

What year is the car?
They changed to a non thread. with a collar for the sizing. That would probably work with your threaded one. The is the ones for the 356 that will work for a the threaded gear shift. You might try Gary at "Parts Obsolete" at McMinnville, Oregon. Since you are about 30-50 miles from them. Gary has been sell parts, customizing and racing Porsches for over 50 years. |

It is a 1967. The current knob threads on.

A 14 x 1.75 doesn't fit.

the 14 x 1.75 is too small. Any ides the thread size?

The standard 356 knobs will screw right on if you have a standard gear shifter. They used the same shifter as the SC for the early 912s. If the 356 will not screw on, then you have a non standard or after market gear shift and you will just have to measure it yourself.
If the knob you want to use is too big. Then get one of the collars that they use on the non screwing type shift and tap it on. All the newer Porsches used a non screw knob and was tapped on, with a collar. If the knob you want to use is too small, drill it out to fit the shifter and use a collar. |
