vent window seals

Anyone ever replaced their 1/4 vent window seals? Any tips?

If your talking about the rear ones, yes I have. The only advice is soap the rubber up real good and beat them on with a rubber or wooden hammer, very carefully. Start any place and just work it around.
Good luck,

Damon, in a nutshell:

1) you need to remove the door panel, after removing the window regulator crank and arm rest assembly
2) The wind wing has a bolt-type bottom pivot; this is where you adjust the resistance to pivot movement, so the wing doesn't blow shut when moving. But you'll need to loosen the mechanism so the wing can slide upward after step 3 below.
3) you'll need to remove the external hinge at the top of the wind wing; there is a nut under the rubber seal, unscrew it.
4) you can then lift the wing wing out
5) replace the rubber seal
6) reinstall the wind wing in reverse order. Be sure to adjust the pivot resistance just right before putting the door panel back on.

It's a lot of careful work, but it is worth every minute! No more leakage of air and water.

912 Vent window follow-up question...

Hi Guys, I can't tell you how valuable this forum is (for me) when it comes to un-documented aspects like this! thanks in advance for the help.

My follow-up question relates to step 2 above:

"...you'll need to loosen the mechanism so the wing can slide upward after step 3 below."

I did this (and everything else on the list), but I still can't pull the window up and out of the mechanism described above. It's clearly loose, but I won't come out.

My question is: do I just need to pull harder? is there more than one bolt that needs to be loosened on the mechanism? should I use a lubricant? am I missing a step?

FYI, I didn't fully remove the door panel. I did, however, remove most of the screws on the uppermost portion of the door panel so that I could lift it away from the interior of the door and expose the access port through which I loosened the mechanism (see photo).

Thanks again!
