What to look for?
I'm inspecting a 1966 912 in a few hours. By the time anyone responds I will have probably seen it, but what should I have looked for?
What problems might be worth checking up on. What options if any would make it more valuable than another 912. Thanks for any thoughts/advice. Cheers Mark

Like you said, you've probably already done the inspection; anyway, rust, rust, rust, look under the car in the tub under the carpets, in the rear seat hollows, any rusted sections on the exterior of the body.
How many owners has it had, of course the engine, does it knock or smoke, the trans, does it shift easy, any weird noises, the general look of the engine and engine compartment, severe oil leakage. How much the person is selling it for should have a lot to do with your decision, general look of the car, dents, interior. Does it look like a project you want to start? because no matter how good it seems to be it will turn into a project for some time to come. And check out the owner, did the person work on the car, is he sad about letting it go or just dumping it. Goooooood luck, Chas. 69/912 |
