Hi Scott,

Now that you sold the SC, are you looking for another 12?

Haha, thanks guys - how far should the arm be able to rotate ? Mine moves about 2mm and snaps back.

Also, my breaker point gap appears to be 0 unless I'm looking at the wrong thing.

It doesn't move much. I'd venture to say if you are getting some movement and it snaps back you are fine. Just put a couple drops on the pad and check that the distributor is tight. Point gap will be zero unless it is on the lobe of the shaft. If you turn over the engine by hand, you should see the gap open.

Lubed distributor arm with 2 drops, as per my pellows book - no change in idle.

Any other ideas?

Have you disconnected the linkage from the carbs and then started the car to see if your idle problem exists?
Where are you located?

Yes - I've never experienced a problem this mysterious before - these cars are relatively simple.

I'm in Palo Alto, CA.
