Fuel Tank Finger Screen

I have just finished giving my fuel tank the POR-15 treatment, and when I removed the finger screen on the outlet, it was restricted about 80% with a thin coat of varnish, so......
If you are having fuel flow problems and have done the obvious, (pump, filter, lines etc.) you might wanna look at this piece.
You can uncrew the fitting from underneath without taking out the tank.

Por-15 Tank systems seems to work real good too.

Just a thought about the POR15..... and fuel tanks.

First of all, its a GREAT product but be sure to follow the instructions exactly to insure proper adhesion.

I chose not to use the stuff, still have it sitting on my bench. The decision came after talking with the raddiator shop that fixed my leaks. The first thing they asked was if I had used some sort of coating. I was told if I had that there wasn't much they could do. Otherwise, they could fix just about anything, even fairly large holes by adding new metal. I had it cleaned, repaired, and pressure checked, then placed it back in the car.

My screen in the tank was pretty plugged too- I recommend pulling it and cleaning it to anyone who hasnn't. Even the best engine doesn't run without gas!

Best,
Morrie

Cool fuel tank

Hi I used that Por 15 it looks the dogs @~*$&£ . I used a high pressure jetter to get all the crap out the tank and I mean real high presure 3000 psi. the tank looked like new. Then did the por 15 to finish it off and it looks like new now.

What did you clean the finger off with ( Gas ? ) and I want to renew the rubber hose too that sits on it to the first part of the metal fuel line

is it easy to get the finger off and is there any other rubber hose's I should look to change.

Cheers
Mark

finger screen

Mark,

The screen is a mesh atatched to the fuel outlet. I just unscrewed the outlet and scraped the varnish of the mesh, rinsed it off with gasoline and blew it clean with air.
Replacing that hose is probably a good idea.
I don't know about the hose in the engine compartment. I haven't got to it yet. I,m startng at the front and working my way back,........

Thumbs up

Guy at radiator shop might want to know that tank coatings can be removed by dissolving them with MEK. Never ask a barber if you need a hair cut

Gas will work but carb cleaner works very well to clean tank screens and the like.
