New 912 in town

Hey guys,

Just found this place while surfing for some info and it looked like a good place to browse around. I just made a swap for a '69 912, all original and numbers matching.(Traded my beloved motorcyle for it straight across). It gorgeous inside and out...but I am going to be replacing that stinkin front pan and making a couple of minor floor pan repairs. Looking forward to reading through the messages and picking up some good info.

Kevin

My 69 has the radio antenna on the driver's side. What wheels are on the car? Are they a Fuchs replica?

Welcome Kevin!
Lookin' good! You'll find plenty of excellent info on the 911 board also. Same car, different engine.

Duke,
Manual antenna were on the left side. Power antenna on the right.

Cheers

Looks good, I like the stance of your 912. If you need some pics of a front pan being replaced I have some from when I did my 67.

Welcome to the list.

Thanks guys!!

Yep you are correct power antenna came on the right side instead of left...however mine is not the correct power antenna...oh well. The wheels are Fuchs...they've just had all the black polished off. Got the thing from my brother out in Arizona...obviously I trailered it back to Texas...didn't want to take any chances until I had a the opportunity to give it a good going over...

Alan...yes I'd love some pics of the pan install...I have a good friend who is a wizard with a welder, so he will be doing the welding, but I will be doing the cutting and fitting...any helpful advice is welcome...I'm planning on replacing the full long front pan instead of just the short front section...what the heck ...might as well go for the gusto right?

Actually I'm not 100% sure...supposedly they are the original wheels (which the dealer invoice I have for the car does note unless they were replaced at some point in the last 33 years...) so I would figure 5 or 5.5. I read somewhere the other day about the stock rim sizes but I don't remember exactly...I will say one thing...those are some light rims...and the stinkin' lug nuts...how can something so light that you can't even feel it in your hand be strong enough to hold a wheel on...amazing!!!

I think the wheels on a 69 were 6 by 15. They look that size in the pics. It will have the size stamped on the back/inside of the wheel.

I've been looking for some 67 S 4.5 15's. The strange thing is I've seen more 4.5 15's on VW beetles than I've seen on anything else.

Tron I will mail you what shots I have of the front pan area.

Congratulations once again

Alan.UK
