pedal cluster rebuild
was so fired up to finally tighten up the pedal cluster... unfortunately, after removing it i was unable to pull the clutch arm off of the central rod...i drilled out the roll pin, soaked the clutch arm in WD-40, heated it up, etc...anyone have any luck in this area? it killed me to have to put it back in half-done...but we've had close to perfect driving weather here in maryland for the last month and i had to get it back on the road. partsheaven has a rebuild avail. that i'm going to order, but just wanted to check and see if anyone has gone through the clutch pedal removal successfully before i order it...thanks!

rdhhdr,
A guy over on www.bay912.org has a video tape of a tech session that was done on just his subject. Complete pedal cluster rebuild, I think he wants cost of tape and shipping. Craig www.bay912.org |

Dale,
I know what you mean about getting the pedal off the shaft. The only way I could solve the problem was with extreme heat. In my situation the butane torch did not do it, I had to fire up the acetylene and really put the heat to it. I vised it down, tuned it red, oiled it several times and spun it with a good set of vise grips. For a moment I thought it might break under the strain. The parts grow together so extreme heat was my only cure. Good luck, Chas.69/912 |
