What is this 912 worth?
I am looking at a 1976 912 that has 298000 on the odometer. Actual mileage is unknown. 2 owner vehicle. Interior is original and looks great. 16inch fuchs and 911 rear wheel flares. Very minor oil leaks and paint is decent. The seller is asking $6500, but I think he would sell for $5000. Is this still too much?
Any help would be appreciated. |

298,000 miles?
How many rebuilds? If that is original mileage, it's a crap shoot. The purchase price is the start point. $5k sounds about right for such high miles. Take a hard, long look at it before writing the check, better yet, find an objective "third party" person go with you to play devil's advocate. |

Three hunderd thou on the odo and the original interor still looks great? What did it do, go the moon and back in an airtight box? Something is fishy or misprinted about this car and the miles. That many miles on most any car is too many and will show up as wear and tear regardless of how well it was kept. Pay based on condition but do a PPI, have the car checked out carefully by a pro first.

Thanks for the input. I forgot to mention that the engine went through a complete rebuild only 10k miles ago. The owner claims to have receipts. I should have chosen better words while describing the interior. I feel as if the interior is in great condition considering the miles. Seat covers may have been on the seats, I am not sure. I am definitely going to do a PPI and hope all checks out well. I think I would enjoy driving a 912 daily. Any other input is appreciated.
Thanks Again |
