Luggage deposit

This is in answer to a message.

The luggage Deposit was only available 67-71 mainly for the Targa. If you can not find one for the Coupe'. You can have one made or make it yourself.

It is the same height as when the rear seats are down. The pattern for the top would be the same as the seats the lip. Except it would fit flush to completely fill the space.

The carpet is the same as the floor or German square weave in my case.

As you can see they also came with two doors. So the front has to be as high as the seats are to accommodate the doors. Also plywood was used in the construction and thick enough not to sag even with the interior side braces.

I do not have any pictures that can be found, right now, before it was installed. However the two outside sides and the two interior sides slant from the rear to the front. You need the interior sides to also help with strength for the top. If you look at the seats you can get and Idea of the degree of slant.

The Luggage Deposit is also attached like the seats are. They both use the same hardware and the bolts. After you slide the deposit into the back seat area. you go through the doors to attach the bolts. You may have to remove the front seats to put the deposit in place and then attach it.

I hope this is enough info for you.

Ok !

One question though : at the back it's bolted to the OE seat fixtures, but how is it locked down at the front ?

At the back it is bolted to the OE fixers. You can use an "L" bracket to hold it down inside the front. However, the weight and the snug fit keeps it from bouncing up on a rough road. Just like the rear seat backs stay down.

Obviously the luggage deposit will add more weight than the rear seat backs.
