Throw Out Bearing
As I get my 69 ready for winter storage I noticed the throw out bearing is starting to "sing" to me. Probably from lack of use on a week end driver.
Planning ahead for next spring to replace the clutch plate, pressure plate and throw out bearing what about the gland nut (Pilot Bearing) in the flywheel?? Are there roller bearing types availiable for our cars? What's the recommendation? I am hoping the flywheel can be cleaned up, not replaced. If not a new ring gear too unless it's part of the flywheel. Where is the best place to buy a stock clutch and how much will it cost?? Thanks, Ron

Brett:
Were talking about Chicago winters here. The car is lucky to be in storage during our winter, I wish I was! Thanks for the info, Ron

Ron,
How far are you from Des Plaines?? I will be out there for a few days in either late December or mid-January. Always nice to meet 912 owners! Craig |

Craig:
You will be approx 10 miles or less away depending where you are staying in Des Plaines. Give me a call when you arrive and we will set up a date to meet here at my plant so you can see my car. 1-800-323-1653 x613 Powernail Co. Ron D

Replace the stock gland nut as they are one use only. When they fail you have a big, gotta split the case, me$$. Scat make a nice gland nut ($50)with a good bearing installed and it will take well over 400ft/lbs. The nut is stronger that the stock crank.
