Early steering column cover finish?
Hi All,
I am cleaning up after several POs "renovations" in my 1966 912 luggage compartment and started wondering about this, the steering column cover (part 90134706700): ![]() What is the correct finish for the cover? Currently it is painted black (and red and so on), but when turned to the side it seems to be just badly painted. ![]() Should I strip the paint to expose this cool surface? ![]() The ones I see on the web seem to be plastic (?) but this I think looks like some kind of fiber reinforced plastic? And no, I´m really not this pedantic.. ![]() Thanks Patrick

It should be black.

Thank you John!
That is interesting! Presumably the part would then have been painted already fitted since the painting is so uneven and since the unpainted surface is visible when I pry the rubbers off. Cool!
