Reputable shops located within SC, NC or GA???

Does anyone know of reputable shops located within SC, NC or GA that specializes in 912(vintage Porsche repairs, restoration) Engine repairs/rebuilds and shops that handle/specializes transmission repairs, rebuilds...The more I drive my 67-912, the more I want to keep it for many years to come. Thanks

Don't really know of any really good vintage Porsche shops here in Columbia, SC. (I wish I did)
I try to do most of my work myself. I really like working on these old cars. :-)

What area or region are you in?

Best regards,

Russell,
Down the road from you in Charleston

Autometrics is in Charleston. These days they are more known for their water cooled stuff, but that's because they are race oriented and that's what pays the bills.

They may not be the best place for general service, but if you need your engine or gearbox gone through you will get excellent quality. Their engines are works of art. Wouldn't hurt to ring them up and ask. I suspect they can also send you to a local air cooled service shop for your more general needs.

Regards,

Matt

MM...you still trolling the 912 section...lol... I haven't had great experiences with shops here in Charleston with my air cooled cars. I will leave it at that.

Turpin...I need you as a neighbor with those skills! Lol..

Not trolling if you are trying to be helpful. ;-)

I'll be in your area next week. Any hotel suggestions between Savannah and CMP? My flight lands too late to drive the whole way to the track Monday night.

Sorry. I hijacked.

Matt,
What's going on at CMP?
Are you having your car delivered or renting a car for the event?

Thanks
Russell

Hickory, NC: Carrera Motorsports, Tim Herman does high end restorations, excellent mechanical work.

Hendersonville, NC: Stuttgart Motorwerks (no website; try FaceBook), Pete Martin does excellent mechanical work.

Peter,
Thanks for the recommendations and it's good to know there is someone closer than the west coast

I talked with Ken and have been doing business with them for a while, but this will take too long and it's a one many show...plus he does daily drivers, but if there is DD problem, then he has shut down and put all effort in to getting a persons DD up to par.

You're welcome. They are a good family business. Dad and two sons at the heart of it. They take great pride in what they do.
