engine & transmission

I have a 912 engine and transmission from a 1969 model 912. They both have 86k origional miles. The enine had a cracked head so it was removed and rebuilt several years ago. It is complete except for the heads. I have a new head for the cracked one. the heads just need to be machined and put back on the engine. I have all the engine parts including the engine sheet metal. The transmission is a five speed.

I am looking to sell them and don't know what kind of price to ask. If you have any suggestions on pricing or selling, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don,

There's a fella in Washington State that I occasionally buy spare parts from by the name of Tim Jones. He seems like a decent guy and could probably either help you sell it, buy it, or at least tell you what its worth from experience. Here's his e-mail address:

After reading my post it wasn't very clear. The engine was rebuilt with new pistons and cylinders, etc... The haeds are the only thing that need to be finished. I didn't do the work on the engine. A local import shop where I used to live did the rebuild. The previous owner died while the car was being worked on. That's why the heads didn't get finished. I bought the car from the shop owner 20 years later. I talked with the Maestro and his recommendation was finish the heads and put the engine back in the car. However, the body on my car had sat out in a leaky barn for 20 years. The rust on it was quite terminal.

Thasnks again,

Don

Hi

Just to say that Morrie is right.... Tim Jones is great for second hand parts. I even get him to ship parts to London for me. He's a great guy. In the end, Tim is a good judge on things that sell and how much you can get for parts.

We all would like to think that is worth $$$$ but does it sell?

Chickybok

Ps whats with all the smilies!? I hate them
