valve Adjustment

Just picked up a 69.

Am I stupid to do the valve adjustments myself? Want to try to do as much of the maintenance as possible on my own, but don't want to mess up my (newly rebuilt) engine.

Know how to change the oil and I have done basic stuff on my other cars, but want to see how difficult this will be.

Also, if there are any wrenches in the SoCal area (I'm in LA), would love to buy you breakfast in exchange for teaching me how to do this properly.

The owners manual will have all the basic information you need for a tune-up, oil change and valve adjustment. It is not that hard on a 912.

excellent answer to the posters question Jaems.... an amendment under "Lubricating Distributor Cam' ... should have "While distributor rotor removed, place drop of motor oil in the cotton packing in the center of distributor shaft"
