912r

I hunted around and I don't see many folks putting their cars on a diet? The sixer guys seem to be obsessed with lightening the load and I wonder why more 912 guys aren't into this idea?

So if the 911R weighs 1808 pounds, and a 912 automatically has a 200 pound advantage, could a 912 get down to 1600?

I'm wondering if a few engine tweaks to bring the horsies up to 130 and a bit of diet could turn a 912 into a very fun car. In reading Wilhoit's engine studies 130 horsepower seems quite doable. And working the equation from both ends seems the most "Porsche" solution.

The advantages are obvious and numerous, why don't I see more of this?

What would the power to weight ratio be?

On a related side note: how does one calculate power to weight ratio exactly?

So if you know of, want, or have some variant of a 912R please speak up, post pictures, discuss, or even argue about it if you prefer.

Thanks!

On the dyno, mine produces 122 Din hp 114 lb of torque wheels to the ground. Probably a little over 130 SAE hp at the engine. It is also still streetable. I also have a front oil cooler. The more HP and Cu. CC the more heat.

This book will help you tweak your engine and suspension: Duane Spencer, "The complete Porsche 912 Guide"

The 911R and 911S light weight also have aluminum doors, hood and truck, plastic windows.

Since I am not going to race this car. I don't need to have a roll bar and stripped out interior. I can still keep up with most 911's. I just have to work a little harder. I have a luggage shelf instead of rear seats and complete interior.
