Porsche Crest Rain Tray

Question? How many of you out there have a rain tray under your grill on the back decklid? I have K&N air filters without shields and am worried about water in my carbs. Anyone please. Later DG

I believe the rain tray was a standard item starting in 69.

My 69 has one, and a good thing here in Michigan, I think I really helps to keep water off the generator area.

I don't use one anymore as I don't drive my car when the streets are wet. The intention was to keep water off the generator & dist. 69 912.

Took mine off my '69, too. Just thought I'd keep the most air I could moving though the engine compartment. It has been said to reduce oil temperature a few degrees when removed.

Took mine off about a year ago and did notice a drop in oil temp. I don't drive in the rain so no worries about water in the Gen or Dizzy.

Hi Guys. I'm after one of these for my 66. It rains here! I try not to drive in the wet... but often get caught.
I've seen a few on ebay... but they don't want to ship to London or the condition is bad.

Does any one have a good one they wish to sell?

Thanks
David

my 66 has still got it fitted. these were unique to the 912 rather than the 911 because of the position of the distributor and carbs.

No rain tray on my 65. I never had a problem with rain (when I used to drive in the rain - only car) and have solex with small mesh air cleaners.

I have had rain trays on both my 67 and 69 cars. These (in the UK) are becoming quite hard to find. They are very useful in keeping a lot of rain water directly of the engine. The harder parts to find are the hexagonal extension pieces that screw to the underside of the grill and therefore hold the tray down three or so inches. This is to enable a clear flow of cooling air to the engine.

PS. David I know where I may be able to find one, I will send you a private mail.
