Porsche 912 oil filter bottom hose

Hi , I have a Porsche 912 1969 , I am going to paint the oil filter holder , I have carefully removed the oil pipes , but not sure if there should be a sealing washer on the bottom pipe , or is it a metal to metal fit , thanks ,

One other thing:
If you're considering sand blasting the housing, don't! Nearly impossible to get the grit out of the inside and it will ruin your engine. There's a Rustolium Silver Hammer Tone spray paint that looks close to original.

Garage
The seal is made via 'compression' fitting: a metal ferrule is used on either end to effect sealing. The bottom hose is the drain back so it has very little pressure on it.
