Valuation Opinions Needed..
I found a solid 1966 912 Coupe to restore. It's all there and original except the engine was replaced in the '70s by the dealership.
The engine case has no serial number above the 'MADE IN GERMANY' on the front case, just blank and smooth. This i assume means it was replaced with a new motor back then. I think this better (in terms of value/collecting) than having an engine swap with the wrong serial number. My question is; how much will this effect value? I plan on doing a thorough nut and bolt resto on this one. TIA, -Matt

They (dealership) sometimes put the original engine number on the replacement engine. However, it is not the same as having the original engine. The price and selling of the car will reflect this. It is still a replacement engine.
You can still have a fine example of the type 912, after restoration. It would then depend on how badly someone wanted this car on what you can get for it. |

Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....
