New forum member; first question: smog pump
Hello, just joined her and recently sold my December 1959 Beetle convertible
![]() to buy this 1968 912 ![]() The car is originaly from Beverly Hills and original color was 6837 coffee brown. The car was shipped to The Netherlands and is now being prepared to get inspected and registered. I am sure I am going to use this forum a lot and ask a lot of questions and here is the first one: my 912 still has the 1968 only smog pump installed and it is also still hooked up. As I understood the pump can do quite some damage to the engine. If I want to enable it can I just detache the belt and leave the rest on or is there more to it? Thanks for any help! BTW if anyone recognises the car and can tell me more about its history I would be very grateful! |

There should be a check valve to keep exhaust from going the wrong way. You can just remove the belt and drive it.

912 BBS
you should join the 912 forum above as it seems to be more active than this-it's free and people are very knowledgeable and responsive to questions. |
